Norman Brosterman is the author of Inventing Kindergarten, on the history of the original kindergarten system and its influence on the development of 20th century abstract art and modern architecture. An expert on the history of children’s building blocks, construction toys, and antique pattern-making and mosaic toys, Brosterman recently co-founded Kaleidograph Design LLC, to manufacture creative design toys in the spirit of Friedrich Froebel, the inventor of kindergarten.

Brosterman sells vintage Japanese propaganda kimonos, historical architectural drawings, vintage ikebana baskets, and a wide range of other unusual art,
and collects 19th century kindergarten artifacts.
